Student and Faculty Help is Needed to Staff FUN Booth at the Society for Neuroscience Meeting in San Diego!
STUDENT STIPENDS ARE AVAILABLE.
Applications will be accepted until all sessions are staffed. Students will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis, so APPLY EARLY!
FUN is very pleased to offer an additional program to help support undergraduate student attendance at the annual Society for Neuroscience Meeting. Undergraduate students can apply to receive a $50 stipend for staffing our FUN Exhibit Booth (#4726) for one morning (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM) or afternoon (1:00 PM - 5:00 PM) session, Sunday - Wednesday, November 4–7. Students can earn this money to help offset the cost of attending the meeting or choose to donate all or part of their stipend to their neuroscience club, Nu Rho Psi Chapter, etc. Responsibilities include answering questions, distributing brochures, selling FUN merchandise and collecting FUN dues.
FUN faculty, if you have an undergraduate student attending the Society for Neuroscience meeting in San Diego, PLEASE encourage him or her to participate in the FUN student stipend program. We also need faculty volunteers to help staff the booth. Do you have an afternoon or morning free to help out? Perhaps you would like to volunteer during your student's shift? This is your chance to help recruit new members and raise money for FUN programs. Helping staff the FUN booth is an excellent way to network and become more involved in our organization. We need your help to support FUN’s mission.
SIMPLE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Please send an email to FUN President, Mary Harrington
<mailto:mharring@email.smith.edu>, as soon as possible with the following information:
FROM THE STUDENT:
The student's name, email address, cell phone number (if available) and which sessions (AM or PM) on which days (Sunday – Wednesday) the student will be available to staff the booth. Each student is limited to one stipend per morning or afternoon session. Two students may also "share" staffing responsibilities for one or two sessions and split the stipend (e.g., while one student attends presentations, the "partner" student staffs the booth).
Students will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis, so apply early! However, students will be eligible for multiple stipends if sessions remain un-staffed after all other applicants have been assigned.
FROM THE FUN MEMBER:
A simple note from the sponsor stating that: 1) the sponsor supports the student's application for the stipend, and 2) the member has verified that the student will be attending the Society for Neuroscience meeting.
Members may support more than one application, and the sponsor can be the student's advisor. As with FUN travel awards, only members of FUN who are current with their membership dues may sponsor applications. If you're not a FUN member, become one today! Regular Member Dues are only $35 <http://brainexchange.net/store/
>.
